Puss, who believes Humpty is a traitor (a
claim the egg refutes), declines and departs. Later, Puss confesses to Kitty
that, rather than his brother, Humpty was their shared childhood companion at
the orphanage.
However, the innocent jokes they played as kids quickly evolved into crimes as they grew older. This changes when Puss intervenes to prevent a bull from mauling the senior mother of the chief soldier.
When Humpty realized that Puss, the new town hero, was spending less

This got him caught, but Puss bailed him out and told him he was no longer going to steal.
One night, out of desperation, he wakes up Puss and asks for help leaving town since he owes money to Little Boy Blue, the orphanage bully who led to their friendship.

the town bank, which Humpty had just looted, when Puss manages to bring him
over what he thinks is the town wall.
As soon as the alarm goes off, Humpty flees with all the money in the bank. The moment the cops come, they notice Puss with Humpty and assume he was involved in the crime.
Puss and Humpty escape after being falsely accused, but their cart is destroyed on the bridge and all the town's money is lost in the river.
Puss dives into the sea as a
result of his despair and depression. This incident sets the stage for Puss and
Humpty's chilly friendship. Puss eventually chooses to accompany them on their
voyage after being persuaded by Kitty.
